Is it at all possible to record something to a reel to reel player, delay it, then output it all in one sitting?

essentially, can a reel to reel be used for realtime delay?

i dont think it can buuuuuuuut i hope it can.  :juggle:  :juggle:  :juggle:  :juggle:  :juggle:

you'd need two heads, one recording and another playing back simultaneously. The signal goes in, gets recorded on the tape, which then runs by the playing head and gets echoed out. If you route the output back in to get recorded again, you have multiple echoes.

I made something similar with crappy tape players, it's not a perfect delay but I can make lots of cool sounds and effects with it http://experimentalistsanonymous.com/bo ... php?t=1036

thanks, the echo pedals look great but I can't even start to try to think about making one of those.  or any electronics really.

stopmakingsteve - my reel to reel says "three-head" on it.  does this mean i can do what you said?  also, any idea how to do that? probably some way of running the tape from the reels?  think ive got some research to do...
