Based on one of my favourite EMS Synthi A patches. Mostly LM13700 and LM324 inside.

My mate Martin did the graphic using CorelDRAW. My mate Malcolm cut the panel using CorelDRAW/CNC.

Nice!  What case is that?  So is the circuit based off the synthi?

The case was actually from a camera shop, Jessups, in the UK.

The synth isn't based on Synthia A circuits - just the concepts and behaviours. I do have a Synthia A - a DIY clone which my brother kindly built for me. The VCO and VCLFO are based on ideas from the LM13700 spec sheet. The LFO and VCA are based on Roland 100m. The AR gen is my own design, using a quad opamp.

I used to use my Synthia A in my band, but it's really a 'desk job' operating one, so I built this as an 'on the fly' soundalike, with switching instead of a patchbay.

Footswitch operated so I can use it while playing guitar. The name - if you ever hear it you will understand!

That looks great! Seriously good looking stuff. How's it sound?

....but also it made me sad that I have to wait so long until I get a new season of the Doctor.

OK you asked for it!

So here's a little soundclip, please make sure your dog is in the other room: http://www.aronnelson.com/DIYFiles/up/D ... andbag.mp3

Recorded live - no overdubs/edits - or rehearsal for that matter.

Audio path:

Dalek's Handbag  >  WEM Copycat (just a touch)  >  Event Echo Gina 24 Soundcard  >  Wavelab

I am currently available for weddings, christening, corporate events and bar mitzvahs.

It sounds really good through my Hi-Fi setup.

But it needs more "Exterminate!" samples.
