Hi guys,

I have successfully built version2 of this circuit into a box with a footswitch and all
http://www.home-wrecker.com/bazz.html

I am interested in converting it to be used with DC power, and am using this page as a reference
http://www.beavisaudio.com/techpages/PedalPower/

Am i wrong to assume the circuit is Negative ground power wiring? An (un) educated guess tells me that as the battery negative is not connected to the ground, therefore it is not.  Whenever i have tried it, it just hums like a muddyfunkster.

What am i doing wrong?

Thanks

Looks like you have built the NPN version, so that's negative ground. Your battery -ve should be connected to ground. Shorting problems could occur if you are using a metal chassis DC socket. Or you could have a noisy unregulated power supply. My guess is that its the battery -ve not conected to ground though.

My battery negative is connected to the input jack like in the schematic.  If i remove it from there and put it to ground, what goes in its place on the input jack?

I am using a onespot to power it and the dc socket chassis is plastic.

All grounds connect together - connect the battery gound to the input/output socket ground and the DC socket ground.
