Hey, I'm also interested in this pedal, but unfortunately also am not sure where to start. If anyone one has any suggestions on getting started making an effect like this it would be wildly appreciated. thanks!

About 10 or 11 years ago I had one of those kits and just switched out in and out jacks for the mic and the speaker output... I never attempted to bend it though, it sounded pretty cool just on the robot and vibrato settings.
I bet it wouldn't be that hard to come up with all sorts of wild stuff with some bending.
For $13 you can't really go wrong.

I just built that circuit (for the second time) as well. I used a pot to adjust the vibrato instead of a fixed resistor between the OSC2 and Fvib pins. I haven't found any other bends, but the circuit is cheap, easy and puts a smile on the face of everyone I've let try it.

The trouble is finding that chip (win8072) in small quantities anywhere other than in those kits.

I thought it used a HT8950A chip? I made a vero layout for just about the same circuit a while ago. I can upload it if people are interested. From my experience, the LED that lights up to show signal passing always needed a big signal, so I've added the Tillman preamp to my builds and the LED now lights up more consistently which works better for me.

Been meaning to grab one of these for a while. Maybe if some clips get posted I'll get that extra push needed to pick one up as well?

Sorry, there was another similar kit that used a similar chip. I found mine in a drawer full of junk last night by the way, but I had cannibalized a couple of common parts, which I may have to drop back in and see what I can do with it.

After cruising around the internet it seems like the Robot must be using the HT8950 like you said. Considering this, how do guys think that the DBA Robot relates to the DH pitch shifter from general guitar gadgets?

Cheap and easy, day after Halloween got 2 different voice changers. One I put into a pedal case and changed to 1/4 " in and put, added 2 bend knobs. Works amazing with my APC. Other one I added screws to the case and wired them as bending contacts. A lot of fun. I'll try to post some video soon. Bends are easy and give more options.
