I've posted in the past about solar powered oscillators, but a recent post over at getlofi brings up the topic again.  This is a solar powered Atari Punk Console built by Poperboy:

It's worth noting that Futurlec has recently expanded their range of solar panels - in particular the 9V, 70 mA solar cell near the bottom.  That would be enough to power most guitar pedals, even with lower light.  Interesting stuff!

Solar is a cool angle; plus you could somewhat control the amount of available power by blocking light, making for a light sensitive effect. Mmmm, starved circuits.

Been pondering this a bit as well, I'll have to tack some on my next futurlec order.

Ooooo, this makes me want to use a photo-res for a voltage starve on something soon.
