Hi,

I thought that some of you might be interested in this.  I circuit bent a Korg DW-6000 a while back, but the chorus chip which was an MN3209 got fried when my house fuse blew a while back.  I used it without it for a while, which was okay because it made all the patches pretty noisey after all.  But I finally hooked up with a bunch of BBDs so I replaced it.  I used MN 3207 with no problems, as the pins are the same.  It reacts differently to the clock rates, but still gives a cool chorus, and with a tuning pot can give from flange to short delay.  I think it's better than the original, and it seems to insert less noise.  The stereo image seems to be better as well, so overall I'd recommend trying this mod with anything that uses something like a MN3209.  Thought it might be useful info.

Later,
Pat

Yes, it is possible to build a chorus, flanger, or short delay with this chip.  But I don't know what simple means to you.  You need a clock generator (usually mn3102, 4047, 4046, or 4007), and some op amps for clock noise filters and buffers.  Often these circuits will use compander chips for making the circuit less noisey.

Here is a page describing a really cool chorus project done by a member of this list (if I remember correctly).

Some are simpler than others, and it seems like this chip is really good for flangers.

Cool idea with the direct replacement...  Many of the choruses in the DIY section use the 3207.

seen these?  not new old stock but actual new chips!

1024 stages, and they will sell them in small lots (including individually...)

Yep, those are essencially the same chips as the ones I've got.  I really like them as far as BBDs go.  Nice to have a stock of them waiting for use.  It's also see someone producing new ones.
