Hi!

first of all, i'm new to all this so sorry if i ask obvious things.

i found this big muff schematic online:

as u see i highlighted 2 parts where i'm questioning about.
1: the input looks to have 3 legs. is this a stereo jack input then or cna u just solder the 2 together and the ground separate?

1&2: there are 2 switches on this scheme. is this a one switch dtdp bypass then?

dont mind the red resistor, the scheme was like this when i found it.

one last question: whats up with the ac adaptor and the source? aren't those 2 of a kind? or is it a possibility to switch between battery and wire?


apart from that i have a question for this schematic:

the lfo's transistor says to pin 3.. but what pin might they refer to?

Hi, on the big muff schem, I don't see what you mean about the jack having three leads - there are two per jack, the tip and sleeve.  The sleeve is the rectangle, which should be grounded, and the tip is what get's wired to the switch.  The switch shown is a SINGLE DPDT, but half of the DPDT is used on either side of the circuit.  The battery and AC adapter plug are wired to switch between sources.  On the PWM schem, "to pin 3" corresponds to pin 3 of the 40106.

thanks alot, u solved everything for me exept the first jack.

as i see it: 1 wire goes to the source, one to the 1/2 dtdp, and one to the ground.

ok so if i get it right the dtdp switch is connected to the ground via the jack input? jsut making sure!

No, the DPDT switch is connected to the jack's tip.  The sleeve is connected to ground.

No offence, but if i look at the schematic i see jack input B from the wikipedia site. I opened up my big muff to check and actually this is really simple.

The sleeve, as colin already said, is for ground
the to tips get shortcircuited by using a mono-jackplug. This will make sure that  when u use battery's that when the input is not inserted into the socket no current flows from the battery (or the adapter) to the circuit.

Shoot, you're right, I was only looking at the output jack.  The input jack is indeed a stereo jack, and is being used as discussed.
