Ah, that makes more sense.  In that case, the simplest thing to try is just to replace the speaker with a 1/8" jack (one wire to ground, one wire to tip/ring).  If you're lucky that will work straight away; if you're not, try doing a search, the topic of replacing a speaker with a headphone jack has come up a bunch of times.

The best way to learn is to experiment.  Try it first, then learn from what went wrong.

FWIW, I just bent one of these this weekend. DealExtreme obviously changes out which boxes are sent based on inventory. Mine was supposed to have 12 samples and I ended up with one that has 29. Go figure.

A 100K pot worked really well for me and I added a photoresistor (not sure of the measurement on that one, sorry) in series. The pot fine-tunes the general pitch of the sample, but the photoresistor is where all the fun can be found. Once you get lower than a certain level, the noise ceiling becomes audible and mayhem ensues. I want to go back and add a touch point (for added chaos) and a switch to turn the photoresistor on and off (for more control).

Pics/Movies/Samples coming soon!
