Hello.  Would it be a complicated mod to install a power slot into an EHX Russian Small Stone?  I'm a first timer but my soldering skills are okay.

Also, does anyone have any information about modding the same unit for True Bypass?

thanks for any help!

In terms of a power slot, do you mean a 9v adapter jack, so you can plug it into the wall?  That wouldn't be too hard of a mod.  Is that what you want to do?

Here's a very standard diagram for true bypass, I'm not sure if this will clear everything up, but here it is anyways:

Yeh, 9v adapter jack so I can power it using the usual wall power adapter unit.

thanks

Well, get a 2.1mm 9v switched jack, and take the red wire from your battery and wire it to the switched terminal, then wire the "hot" wire to wherever the battery wire used to go, and then make a new wire from where the black wire of the battery goes and put it on the "cold" lug of the jack.

If it's the russian model true bypassing might be a tad tricky. I TB'd my russian big muff and it involved some nasty cutting at the jacks because the jacks were the kind that solder onto the board. They're also a bitch to solder to because of the plastic - but if you're reasonably handy with a soldering iron you should be fine.

I'm only assuming they'll have the same kind of jacks though. Another problem I had was accidentally bypassing the input buffer. I can't remember what I did but you might want to bear it in mind. Don't know if the SS has an input buffer.

Sorry that none of this is vaguely helpful but I really can't remember everything that was involved. There should be some good articles on TBing and adding a power jack if you search around. I'm afraid I don't have time right now to look for you. Good Luck.

okay, i'll bear that in mind when I come round to taking a look at it.  My SS arrived a few days ago and actually came with an input jack on it (I didn't think they had one), so that's sorted for now
