so my friend works at a club where she carries a tray around all night bringing people drinks.
normally the wait staff there has a lit candle on their tray to help them be found, recently thought the managment has decided they cant use candles any more( besides the obvious fire/burn hazzard, the candles are large heavy glass ones)

so i wanted to build her something simple and small, so i started playing with some leds.
while messing around i put a super bright led and a led from one of those tealights that flickers randomly, turns out, that when the leds are in paralell they both flicker, and apparently in opostion to each other... sweet!

ive ben thinking alot about pairing the candle leds with LDRs to make a "sample/hold" kind of resistance, but this discovery of the leds working in opposition opens up some other interesting doors for that kind of stuff!

anyways, took a quick video and pic, check it out

That's incredible! And you can get the two to flicker opposite directions? Seems like that would be a nice shortcut to a random stereo panner effect

yeah,
the flickering apears to be opposite in the 2 leds,
i dont know if the brightness with be exactly oposite though (i mean that the leds combined brightness might not allways be the same, i hope that makes sence), you would have to come up with a way to match and/or balance the ldrs
