Where can i find a piece like the one on the ehx space drum? im thinkin that piece could help make some really musical circuit bent toys.

The space drum is amazing alone.  Are you looking for a similiar device or a schematic?  The space drum is more of an analog synthdrum, not really a circuitbendable toy.

if i had the real space drum, id be afraid to even use it. this image makes me shudder. i just want a touch sensitive drum pad thing. then ima add it to a circuit bent toy. so if you were going to make your own space drum, what part would you use for the pad?

I'd personally just use a small momentary pushbutton.  The effect would be nearly the same.

A piezo disk thingy would do a nice job. That way the harder you hit, the more voltage. A lot of drum synths are sensitive to the trigger voltage.

Why am I answering this old question? By now you have probably made yourself an Electronic Peasant "Solid State Percussion Synthesizer" and are dancing in the rain sending your analog thunder up at god's thunder!
